From the second to the eighth of February we traveled to Warsaw. This was the third international meeting of our Erasmus Project. On Sunday evening we had a welcome dinner at a typical Polish restaurant where we met our partners from Greece, Italy, Poland and Czech Republic.
On Monday we visited the school and met all the students and teachers involved in the project who had traveled to Warsaw. The Physics teacher organized a workshop with students about how to produce energy, it was easier to ones than to others, but everybody enjoyed the activity. Meanwhile teachers met to discuss the work done in our project. We had lunch at the school canteen and had free time in the afternoon..
On Tuesday we met at the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, where we listened to a speech about its work and aims; this fund has almost 31 years of experience in financing environmental and energy projects. Later we took part in a city game to know the old town.
We had the chance to know the passive house on Wednesday and listen to the explanation given by its creator. He talked to us about how the house had been designed to save and preserve the energy inside.
Students and teachers spent Thursday at school, where students exposed their presentations about the subject of the project: how do we get energy, environmental impact, power plants, future ways of producing energy… (see Activities Page, Activity C5).

On Friday we had a meeting with a member of the Polish government in the Parliament. He was the Treasury Minister, who was very interested in renewable energy, and discussed it with us. At six we had an early dinner all together, we were given our Erasmus certificates and had the opportunity to say goodbye to all our partners and students who had shared this unforgettable experience. We all left to our countries on Saturday.

Our third meeting took place in Kavala (Greece). The visit, together with all the activities arranged by the Greek team, met the expectations we had by far. Besides, we were lucky to have an incredible weather.
After a warm welcome on Saturday evening, we began our work on Monday with a visit to the school facilities and a cooperative work in groups right afterwards. The students were allowed some time to prepare the different sections of a dossier dealing with general aspects of Energy production.
On Tuesday, we took a bus to visit the Thesaurus Hydroelectric plant and dam. After that, we enjoyed a birds of prey exhibit and finally had lunch in Kelafari, an idyllic setting by the river.
We went on a tour around the city on Wednesday and were welcomed by the authorities at the office of the Vice Regional Governor in the afternoon.
Thursday was our second working day and consisted of a visit to the “Renewable Energy Laboratory” in the Technological Institute of Kavala. There, we learnt about the costs and components of solar panels and wind turbines. The teachers meeting took place after the visit, back at school. Finally, at the end of the day, we had time for the students’ presentations. The Spanish team, in particular, showed a video-documentary about Global Warming that two of our students had made themselves and finished off by talking and showing a photo report about their visit to the Experimental Wind Power Station in Sotavento (Galicia).
On Friday, the final day, we visited the ancient city of Philippi, the largest archeological complex of Northern Greece, founded by King Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great. And we also saw the Baptistery of St. Lydia. There, we had a guide who explained to us in detail the historical aspects of the site. It was fascinating.
The farewell dinner party in the evening put an end to the Programme. Many felt sorry to leave but we all came back with an spirit of satisfiaction with work well accomplished and great memories from Kavala and our great hosts there.

The Erasmus + transnational meetings provide an unparalleled opportunity for our students to enjoy a unique experience. They not only visit a European city, guided by fellow hosts of the same age, but also live with boys and girls from the 5 countries that are part of the project, with whom they share work time at the institute and leisure time.
In addition, all students who participate in these projects must present a paper in front of their classmates, and they must do so in English. It is a challenge for them, and it is very satisfying to see how they face it and how they enjoy the experience.
Our second meeting took place in Prague. It was a really good experience, where all the students talked about the use of electric cars, about the bioclimatic arquitecture, and about the different energetic policies in each country (see Activities page in left side menu: Activity P17, Activity P16, Activity P18, Activity P4 and Activity C2).
But it was not all work. We visited the 5 synagogues that make up the “Jewish Museum” of the city, we visited the castle and the Cathedral of San Vito, we enjoyed the work of Alfons Muha in the museum that bears his name, and we had the privilege of being received by the Councilman of Education of Prague in the old Town Hall of the city, located in the emblematic building that contains the famous clock tower.
